LEVANTO MIS MANOS

6 years ago, I went to hear a family friend preach at his fathers church. He asked me to come out as he lived out of town and this would be the only night he was preaching. Truth is I was most likely drunk when I had agreed to go. But I wanted to be a woman of my word. The enemy did every thing he could to get me not to go.
It was a freezing cold February 13th night. I am not fond of cold weather, but I went any way. When I arrived, I had only known a few people there, not personally but they all new my Avila side of the family.

I sat in the back as they began worship. They played some kind of tejano christian song i'd never heard before. I didn't even know they made Tejano Christian songs.

I remember so clearly that the music seemed so loud I thought my ear drums would burst! I wanted out of there bad. I could feel a migraine, some kind of sickness coming on. I needed to leave, I wanted to leave!! I thought of several ways to escape, but I didn't go. I figured I'd just get through this worship and leave then. They began to play another Spanish song called, "Levanto Mis Manos" - This means, When I lift up my hands in English-
This song... why was I so moved by it when I couldn't even understand the lyrics?

After worship, I never got the courage to walk out. My friend began to preach, and I am sure the word was good, however I only remember one part of it. "How long will you sit on that fence!!!?" He screamed into the mic. "Don't wait until it's to late."

Was he talking to me? I was on that fence!! I wanted to live for God, but I wanted to be in the world. I so much wanted to be a part time believer. But there was no mistaking the call on my heart. That night, the Lord was not letting me walk away again. He captured my attention. He didn't want me to waste one more minute without his precious love.

So when it came time for the surrendering of our lives, I lifted my hands and heart to the Lord and rededicated my life. I woke up the next day, Valentines Day 2011 with the worlds best Valentine Ever! Christ Jesus!!

He took my life and began to change it radically. Things that once held me in chains were no longer.  He made me brand new. He changed the path of my family. I am ever so grateful for his grace, and love. Even when I was at my worst, he saw the best.

 He saved me.

Please enjoy the cover to the song I heard 6 years ago today.

Lyrics In English-
I lift up my hands to you
Even when my strength is failing.
I lift up my hands to you
Even when my life is troubled

Chorus:

When I lift up my hands,
I begin to feel
Your spirit that moves me to sing.
When I lift up my hands,
I begin to feel, A fire burning in me.
When I lift up my hands
My burdens are gone,
You give me, the strength that I need.
Lord, anything is possible, anything is possible,
When I lift up my hands to you.
God Bless Family
